Qantas to Increase Services to Northern Territory

Darwin, 13 March 2008

Qantas today announced that it would increase services to the Northern Territory from June 2008, adding a total of 3,556 seats each week to Darwin and Alice Springs.

Qantas Regional General Manager Northern Territory, John Cason, said the additional services were a response to strong tourism growth anticipated during the Territory's upcoming dry season.

The extra weekly return services to be added are:

* four additional Sydney-Darwin daylight services, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, adding 1,540 seats per week and taking Qantas' weekly services on the route to 14 per week;
* three additional Sydney-Alice Springs services on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays - adding more than 1,000 seats and taking the total Qantas services on the route to 10 per week;
* an additional Brisbane-Alice Springs service, to operate on Wednesdays;
* two additional Perth-Darwin services, with the first (operating on Sundays) commencing in April 2008, and the second, on Saturdays, commencing in June.

Qantas currently operates 68 return services from Darwin to seven Qantas destinations per week, as well as 65 return services from Alice Springs to eight destinations each week.
