Qantas begins codeshare with Swiss International Airlines
Sydney, 11 March 2003
Qantas and Swiss International Airlines will commence daily codeshare services between Sydney and Zurich via Singapore and Frankfurt from 30 March with fares starting from AUD2099.00*
Qantas Executive General Manager Sales and Marketing John Borghetti said the codeshare services would allow both airlines to further develop the growing markets between the two countries.
"Switzerland is an important market for both the business and leisure traveller," Mr Borghetti said.
"The new codeshare services will allow people travelling to Zurich to enjoy a stopover in Frankfurt, the gateway to central Europe, and Singapore, one of Asia's best shopping and holiday destination." he said.
Mr Borghetti added that the timings of the services allowed customers to depart Zurich in the evening and flight connection times had been kept to a minimum.
He said that customers would also benefit from the codeshare by earning and redeeming Qantas Points.
"Qantas Frequent Flyers have the ability to earn Qantas points on all flights marketed and operated by Swiss International Airlines between Asia and Switzerland, within Switzerland and on the new codeshare service between Zurich and Frankfurt. Qantas Frequent Flyers can also earn points on all codeshare flights operated by Qantas and marketed by Swiss International Airlines," he added.
Qantas Frequent Flyers can redeem points for Award Travel on all flights marketed and operated by Swiss International Airlines between Asia and Switzerland and within Switzerland.
Mr Borghetti said that Qantas now had 22 codeshare arrangements in place, allowing the airline's network to grow to more than 32 countries and 142 destinations.
