Update on Impact to Qantas Services Ash Cloud from Puyehue-Cordon Caulle Volcano
Sydney, 15 June 2011
Qantas has cancelled all services to and from Perth from 1pm local time on
Wednesday 15 June 2011.
All other mainland Australian services will also operate as scheduled including services to and from Adelaide which resumed this morning. Qantas has put on additional services out of Adelaide to clear the backlog.
Flights to and from Tasmania will be suspended for the remainder of the day.
Flights to and from New Zealand remain suspended for the rest of today.
Qantas will continue to monitor the movement of the ash cloud and assess its impact on flight operations as the situation develops. The Qantas Group's approach to flying is based on the highest standards of safety and risk assessment. Safety is always put before schedule.
Passengers with bookings on cancelled services will be contacted and rebooked on alternative services. Qantas will seek to schedule supplementary services to help clear the backlog.
