Qantas adds Supplementary Queenstown Services
Melbourne, 04 June 2010
Qantas announced today it would add seven supplementary services between Melbourne and Queenstown, New Zealand to support demand over the peak Summer period as well as extra services to coincide with the upcoming ski season.
Qantas Regional General Manager New Zealand and Pacific Islands, Mr Grant Lilly, said the seven return services would coincide with the increase in leisure travel over the summer period.
“The extra capacity will benefit the New Zealand tourism industry and we are pleased to offer our customers an extra service each week on top of our existing three return services per week on the Melbourne to Queenstown route.
“It will also help to encourage Australians to take their holidays in Queenstown,” Mr Lilly said.
“Our full service offering allows passengers to enjoy a meal or refreshment while they sit back, relax and enjoy the inflight entertainment in either our Business or Economy Class cabins.”
The additional weekly flights will operate from 18 December 2010 until 29 January 2011. The Melbourne to Queenstown flight will operate on Saturdays as QF177, departing at 9.30am, with the return Queenstown to Melbourne service operating on Saturdays as QF178 and departing at 3.35pm.
The extra weekly service, which will be operated by a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, will offer:
- Melbourne to Queenstown all inclusive fares from AU$357 one way and AU$663 return*
- Queenstown to Melbourne all inclusive fares from NZ$339 one way and NZ$732 return*
These extra Summer services are on top of supplementary flights added to support demand throughout the Winter ski season, which are about to commence for a third year in a row. As part of the increased Winter schedule, an extra weekly service will operate between Melbourne and Queenstown, as well as between Brisbane and Queenstown.
A Melbourne to Queenstown flight will operate for 13 weeks between 27 June 2010 and 19 September 2010. QF177 will depart Melbourne on Sundays at 7.15am, with the return service from Queenstown operating as QF178 on Sundays, departing at 1.10pm.
