Qantas Celebrates 31 Years of ATE with Tourism Australia
Melbourne, 15 June 2009
Qantas today celebrates 31 years of sponsorship of Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) in partnership with Tourism Australia.
Qantas Airlines Group Executive Commercial Mr Rob Gurney said the airline's continued sponsorship of ATE was testament to its ongoing commitment of the Australian Tourism industry.
"Qantas has supported ATE as a major partner for the event since its inception," Mr Gurney said.
"ATE has grown over the years into an annual multi-million dollar investment for Australian tourism and Qantas is proud to be the major commercial sponsor.
"Qantas has carried 16,000 overseas buyers to ATE, helping ensure Australia's world class tourism product is packaged and available through distribution channels the world over.
"Qantas has also carried 750 journalists to the event since it began resulting in invaluable exposure of Australia's travel experiences on the pages of international newspapers and magazines, and on televisions screens and websites around the world."
Qantas continues to be the largest single supporter of the Australian inbound tourism industry.
In addition to ATE, Qantas continues to work with Tourism Australia on programs such as the Visiting Journalists Program and Dreamtime. Qantas also works closely with Australia's six states and two territories on tailored marketing campaigns and sales initiatives.
At an industry level, Qantas works closely with Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC), Tourism Transport Forum (TTF), the National Tourism Alliance (NTA), Tourism Training Australia (TTA), the Convention Bureau and the Australian Hotels Association (AHA).
