Qantas Adds Nelson To New Zealand Domestic Network

Auckland, 21 January 2002

Qantas Airways has added Nelson to its New Zealand domestic network through an expansion of the codeshare agreement with Origin Pacific.

Qantas Regional General Manager New Zealand and The Pacific Peter Collins said Nelson was served with daily return flights from Wellington and twice daily return services from Christchurch.

"The flights are operated by Origin Pacific's recently-delivered Jetstream 41 which, with 29 seats, is an ideal aircraft for operations to provincial centres in New Zealand," he said.

"We are planning to expand our domestic services when Origin Pacific takes delivery of additional Jetstream 41s."

Mr Collins said the addition of the Nelson services increased the Qantas codeshare schedule with Origin Pacific to 90 round trip flights each week.

"We are also operating codeshare services between Christchurch and Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown and Christchurch and Rotorura, using a combination of Dash 8-300 and the Jetstream 41.

"These provincial services compliment the Qantas Boeing 737 trunk network in New Zealand which offers 119 round trips each week between Auckland and Wellington and Auckland and Christchurch," Mr Collins said.
