Sydney, 06 February 2002

Qantas has extended services to two United States destinations through an expansion of its codeshare agreement with American Airlines.

Qantas will codeshare on services between Los Angeles and Oakland, California, and Phoenix, Arizona, operated by American Airlines' regional carrier American Eagle.

Executive General Manager Sales and Marketing John Borghetti said the codeshare would offer three services each day, increasing to six each day from March, between Los Angeles and Phoenix and six services each day between Los Angeles and Oakland.

Qantas operates 26 services between Australia and Los Angeles each week.

The Oakland and Phoenix services will connect in Los Angeles with QF11 and QF107 from Sydney, QF93 from Melbourne and QF25 from Brisbane via Auckland. Evening services from Oakland and Phoenix will connect in Los Angeles with QF12 and QF108 to Sydney, QF94 to Melbourne and QF26 to Brisbane via Auckland.

The new codeshare services bring to 16 the number of destinations Qantas serves in the United States.

Qantas has also expanded its codeshare agreement with British Airways, adding Zurich, Switzerland, to its European network.

Qantas will codeshare on a return daily service between London and Zurich, with connections to Qantas services between the United Kingdom and Singapore, Bangkok and Australia from London.
