Avis and Budget join Qantas Frequent Flyer program

Sydney, 11 April 2002

Hire car companies Avis and Budget will join the Qantas Frequent Flyer program as additional car partners from 1 May 2002.

Qantas Group General Manager Marketing Curtis Davies welcomed the two well-known hire car companies and the benefits the new partners would extend to Frequent Flyer members.

"From 1 May until 31 December 2002, Qantas Frequent Flyer members who rent cars with these partners can earn five points per dollar spent within Australia on time and kilometre charges (excluding GST, insurance and miscellaneous charges). Overseas car rentals will earn members 700 points per rental," he said.

As a special introductory offer, Avis customers who are Qantas Frequent Flyer members can earn at least 500 Qantas Points per day if they rent a car from Group E and above, for rentals commencing between 1 May and 31 July 2002.

Mr Davies said both companies had a large range of vehicles, from the Toyota Corolla to the luxurious Statesman, four wheel-drives, minibuses, trucks and commercials. The Avis range also included other prestige vehicles* such as the Rover 75 and the Saab 9.5. The Budget range also includes the new Nissan X-TRAIL at the same price as a regular sedan, and the luxury Renault Laguna*.

Qantas Frequent Flyer members can find Avis and Budget at more than 240 locations across Australia, and, between them, almost 8,000 locations worldwide.
