Turin, or Torino is a unique location at the base of the Alps in the north-western corner of Italy. The Swiss and French borders are close by, and it’s a few hours from the coast at Genoa. From incredible Piedmontese food and drink (think fresh raviloi and truffles), to stunning orange roofed cityscapes and exploring historic museums, are plenty of things to do in Turin. Be sure to take in the view at Mont Des Capucins, visit Museo Egizio, Basilica di Superga and Museo National - the birth place of the Fiat car. Then relax with an Aperitivo at one of the elegant Parisian influenced cafes.  

When to visit

Best time to visit  Turin

The best time to visit Turin is in September when the weather is pleasant. It’s one of the driest months and temperatures tend to be between 18-21°C, making for the perfect to enjoy outdoor activities. If your planning to ski in the Alps, the best time for snow-based activities is during November and December through to January. Temperatures range from a chilly -1.6°C to 7.6°C.

It is also named Sandro Pertini Airport.

Arriving in Turin

All passengers flying from Turin are allocated checked baggage. If you require more luggage, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online before departure.   

Getting into Turin from Turin Airport     

With a range of  options from public transport, taxies, car hire, trains and car sharing, you can easily find a mode of transport to suit your travel needs. If you wish to rent a car to explore Turin you can simply hire a car and reach the city centre in 25 minutes via the Turin-Torino Airport motorway. Taxies are a convenient way to reach downtown Turin, and the and the travel time is approximately 30 minutes. The public taxi rank is located on the left at the exit on the arrivals area and best booked through the MyTaxi and WeTaxi apps. The bus service runs every day connecting the airport with the city centre, taking approximately 45 minutes. Its best to buy your ticket before boarding the bus. During the winter months, a bus charter ski transfer can take you to the Turin ski resorts. Uber Black taxis also operate in Turin, making for a private way to travel.

Getting around Turin

The best way to get around Turin to see the major attractions is to take public transport. The city has an extensive network of buses, trams, a metro system and cable car run by Gruppo Torinese Trasporti. Turin has a popular bike-sharing scheme and passes for use of the bright-yellow biciclette can be bought at the Piazza Castello tourist office. Major car-rental agencies have offices at Stazione Porta Nuova and the airport or you can take the train that runs from Fermi to Lingotto. A comfortable way to travel is to book a taxi or Uber Black.

If you are a passenger travelling from Bangkok, ensure you check-in online or via the Qantas App before you arrive at the airport from 24 hours before departure. ​
