Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol in Austria is surrounded by beautiful mountains and renowned for its fantastic winter sports facilities, having hosted the Winter Olympics twice. The city has incredible Alpine scenery everywhere you look, and has wonderful architecture seen in its historic castles, churches and palaces and its delightful Old Town looks like it's from a fairy tale. Be sure to visit the Stadtturm (Town Tower) for stunning views of the River Inn, the Hofburg Imperial Palace and Ambras Castle. There are plenty of restaurants serving up delicious schnitzels, meaty stews and cafes to taste Austrian pastries. It's a charming city, where you can experience it all.

When to visit
