When to visit
Bergen is located on the west coast of Norway. The best time to visit in the summer, between May and September. If you visit in May, you can experience the beautiful cherry trees around Lille Lungegårdsvann. In mid-summer, the average daily temperature is around 19°C, but on hot days it may reach 25°C, perfect for a dip in the sea. Autumn is a lovely time to see the colours of the city's changing leaves and in winter there can be some snow dropping to °C to 2°C.

Getting into Bergen from Bergen Airport
Getting into Bergen from the airport is easy, thanks to the different range of transport options available. Choose from taxis, bus, light rail, hotel shuttle or car rental. Taxi is a convenient option and is the fastest way to get to the city centre, taking just 20 minutes. Taxi stops are located just outside the terminal building or you can pre-book one. By bus, the Airport Express bus stops just outside the terminal. The Express Bus follows a route by Fyllingsdalen and takes approximately 20 minutes to Bergen Bus Station. From there, it’s an easy walk to most hotels. The local bus stop is just outside the terminal building. The bus number 23 to Loddefjord, Storavatnet and Sotra stops here. The light rail stop is right outside the terminal and takes you from the airport to the city centre, in around 45 minutes. Car rental companies are available from the airport, or you can organise a hotel shuttle.
Getting around Bergen
Getting around Bergen is easy with an array of transport options to move around and explore the city. Choose from taxis, public transport, on foot or car hire. Because of Bergen's compact city centre Bergen is ideal to explore on foot. The city also has a good public transport system for getting around outside the city centre. With the Bergen Card you can travel free with both bus and light rail in Bergen and the region. If you need a taxi or bus there are multiple stops in the city. If you wish to rent a car, there are many good day trips available to explore the region in Norway.
