When to visit
There are two seasons that could claim to be the best time to visit Oslo, summer with its warm and long days and winter full of Christmas mood and sports. June to July are perfect months to explore the city, chill on rooftop bars and hunt for wild berries. Temperatures range around 21°C. Winter brings Christmas foods, winter sports like skiing and ice skating with temperatures dropping to freezing. Spring is also a popular time to visit, late April to May and you can catch Norway's National Day.

Getting into Oslo from Oslo Airport
Getting into Oslo from the airport is easy, thanks to the different range of transport options available. Choose from taxis, bus, train, hotel shuttle or car rental. Taxi is a convenient option and takes about 40 minutes to get to Oslo. It's best to book a taxi from the taxi booking machine located in the arrivals hall. Usually the taxi will arrive within 3 to 5 minutes. Train is one of the fastest ways to reach the city centre, taking only 20 minutes on the airport express train. There are several buses to Oslo from the airport, and the airport express bus is a comfortable way to travel to the city with services every 20 minutes. The bus stop is located outside arrivals. Car rental companies are available from the airport, or you can organise a hotel shuttle.
Getting around Oslo
Thanks to Oslo’s excellent public transportation system Ruter, it is easy to travel around the city. Distances between attractions are often quite short, so you can explore alot of the city by walking or biking. To travel on the city's bus, trams and trains, it’s all included on one ticket. With the Oslo Pass, you can travel for free in zones 1 and 2, making it a handy way to explore the city. Oslo is a great city for bicycle trips, as it’s a compact city and a good way to see the attractions and get some exercise. It’s easy to hire a bike or join a guided bike tour. Sometimes it’s easier to be driven where you want to go, so taking a taxi is a handy option. It's possible to rent a car if you wish to drive.
