When to visit
Innsbruck has very cold winters, a brief spring and sunny dry winters. Visit in winter to enjoy perfect conditions for winter sports, skiing, sip hot mulled wine in cosy cafes and browse the Christmas markets. Temperatures in winter from November to February drop from -1°C to 4°C, so be sure to pack a warm jacket. Summertime from June to August, temperatures average around 25°C which is a great time for mountain bike riding, hiking and swimming in the Rossau bathing lake and open-air pools.

Getting into Innsbruck from Innsbruck Airport
With a range of transport options available at Innsbruck Airport, it's easy to reach the city centre. Choose from car hire, taxi, train, bus, airport transfer or rideshare. Many car rental providers are available at the airport, with companies located next to the multi-storey car park close to the airport terminal. Taxis can take you to your preferred destination, and you can reach Innsbruck city centre by taxi from the airport within a 5-10-minutes’ drive, or to the ski resorts which is further. The taxi pick-up area is directly outside the passenger terminal building. You can take a taxi or local bus to the main train station Hauptbahnhof in Innsbruck, that connects to several regional trains. The local bus connects the airport with the city centre, with a journey time of around 20 minutes and you can find the bus directly outside the terminal. Alternatively, you may wish to organise a private car or shuttle with your hotel.
Getting around Innsbruck
Innsbruck's public transport makes it easy to travel around the city without a car. The bus and tram routes operated by IVB offer connections to all the major sights and nearby villages. Regional buses and trains operate throughout the city and tickets can be bought onboard or from a ticket machine. If you have a car, there are many parking stations available. Taxis and Uber are available throughout the city, or you may wish to organise a transfer to a ski resort. Alternatively, you may wish to join an organised tour or hire a bike to cycle around the picturesque town.
