Visiting from Singapore to Bilbao

Bilbao buildings and town

Bilbao is the capital city of the Basque country region and an interesting place to visit. It's also known as The City of the Guggenheim, as this is where the original museum was built, so be sure to spend time exploring the artworks and exhibitions. The old town, full of charming streets and bars offering pintxos, is a delightful way to spend a day tasting the local Basque cuisine. Other places not to be missed are the La Ribera market, the famous Zubizuri (Basque for "white bridge) and take in the city’s variety of architecture, ranging from gothic, art deco to contemporary. It’s a lively Spanish city to visit, with plenty to experience.

When to visit

The largest city in the Basque Country of Spain, Bilbao is a spectacular destination that experiences a slightly unique temperate oceanic climate as compared to the rest of Spain, owing to its hilly location. This means that weather in Bilbao tends to be on the cooler side, even during the summer. The summer season from June to mid-September is the best time to visit the city with warm weather averaging between 20 and 30°C. It’s a lovely time to enjoy the outdoors and dine alfresco.
