Visiting from Singapore to Basel

Basel river and buildings

Basel, is a Swiss city located in north-western Switzerland on the banks of the Rhine, where the Swiss, German and French borders meet. It's the third largest city in the country after Zürich and Geneva. Along with Zürich and Geneva, Basel is one of the cities in the world with the highest standards of living. It has a youthful vibe, with modern architecture, galleries, sculptures dotted around the cobbled streets and home to tennis star Roger Federer. Be sure to stroll along the city's blue waters on the Rhine River, visit heritage sites such as the Old Town, the Basel Cathedral and the city hall. It's well worth spending a few days exploring.

When to visit

Basel is blessed with plenty of sunshine, making summer (July to August) the best time to visit. During summer temperatures average around 18°C to 20°C, making it a perfect time to sunbake along the Rhine River. If you visit in August, you can join in the annual swim festival. Winters are cool, but with less rain making it an ideal time to enjoy the museums. Temperatures range around 2°C to 6°C.
