What is the main airport called?

King Shaka International Airport (DUR) Abbreviated KSIA, is the primary international airport serving Durban, South Africa. Located in La Mercy, KwaZulu-Natal, approximately 35 km (22 mi) north of the city centre of Durban.

Arriving in Durban

The staff at Durban Airport will greet you when you land and assist with your travel needs. Once you collect your bags from the arrivals area, there are different transport options available to get you on your way.         

Getting into Durban from Durban Airport

With a range of transport options available at the airport, makes it easy to get to the city centre. If you want a private vehicle then a taxi is the best option. Car hire is available outside the terminal building and it’s best to pre-arrange your vehicle. King Shaka Airport shuttle bus, is a convenient and affordable public transport option with shuttles running constantly to stops in and around Durban. There is a bus service from the airport to popular spots in Durban and major hotels. It’s easy and safe to book an Uber, take a taxi or minibus.

Getting around Durban

The best way to get around Durban is to hire a car to explore the city and the KwaZulu-Natal province at your own pace. Uber is a popular and safe way to get you where you want to go. Other options include the city bus service and Metrorail local trains, although not highly recommended for tourists. In the city, a tuk-tuk is a fun and colourful way to get around, metered taxis, tours, a sightseeing bus or hire a bike to cruise along the beachside.
