There are a number of bus, taxi, shuttles, train and car rental options available at the airport to commute to the city. App based taxi services are available to get you to your destination including Uber and Ola. If taking public transport, local trains are the best way to get to Mumbai city with stations at both the domestic and international terminals. There is also the BEST bus service offering different routes from both terminals. Auto rickshaws are a metered mode of transport available, along with taxis and car rentals. It takes approximately 30 minutes to get to Mumbai city centre by taxi.
Getting around Mumbai
Getting around Mumbai is easy, with a number of transport options to suit your needs. The best way to get around is via public transport. A rapid transit system is the rail system that can get you to the major sites. The Mumbai Suburban Railway, Monorail, Metro, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses, black-and-yellow meter taxis, auto rickshaws and ferries are the most popular options. Taxis and rickshaws in Mumbai are required by law to run on compressed natural gas and are a convenient, economical and easily available means of transport. It is possible to hire a car, though the roads are very busy, so for travellers it’s best to get around by taxi or ride share. Tours can be arranged to see the top attractions including Iskon Temple and the gorgeous Dr Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum.
