Visiting from Brisbane to Moranbah

View our Moranbah Airport guide Sunset country

Moranbah is a modern Queensland coal mining town which dates to 1970. It's located in the Issac Region, on the Peak Downs Highway between Mackay and Clermont. The town hosts a community of permanent miners as well as large numbers of fly-in, fly-out miners who arrive at the airport and work at the many mines around town. There's plenty of things to see and do in Moranbah, including a visit to the Bridled-Nailtail Wallaby Sculpture, a pleasant stroll on the Federation Walk and the Big Red Rhino Bucket which is a symbol of the huge coal mines in the area.
