These resources have been prepared to help you understand some of the key government travel requirements before you book and before you travel. This is a guide only. You should always check the relevant government websites for the most up-to-date travel requirements and restrictions. As travel restrictions change quickly, this information does not replace specific information provided by governments and other relevant authorities. If your itinerary includes travel on another airline, or Qantas codeshare flights operated by other carriers, you’ll also need to check their requirements.
You're no longer required to provide proof of vaccination to travel on a Qantas aircraft. Some countries require passengers to be fully vaccinated before travel. Check the government requirements for all countries that you're travelling to or transiting through to ensure you meet their vaccination requirements.
When you check in for your flight with us, we’ll ask you to declare that you meet all your requirements for travel, including vaccination and pre-departure testing (if applicable to your destination).
On the day of travel, you may be required to carry and show proof of:
If you're required to be fully vaccinated before travel, check the government requirements:
You'll also need to show proof of your vaccination status. This is usually a vaccination certificate issued by a verified source.
If you're an Australian citizen or resident, you may be eligible to obtain your International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate from the Australian Government. Your Medicare proof of vaccination will not be accepted for international travel.
If you’re unable to be vaccinated for COVID-19, you may be eligible to request an exemption. See more information on COVID-19 vaccination exemptions and medical clearance.
If you're required to provide proof a negative COVID-19 test prior to departure and/or pre-book tests to be taken following arrival at your destination, the testing requirements are set by the countries you are travelling to and transiting through.
We recommend you check the requirements of your destination country well before your travel date to ensure you comply with their test requirements, including types of acceptable tests and documentation required, and allow enough time to organise your test.
If you've previously had COVID-19, and a negative pre-departure test is a requirement for your trip, you may show a positive result even if you're not currently infected. In this case, you may need to apply for a COVID-19 past positive medical clearance with us.
