China: Sydney-Shanghai flights

We’ve made some updates to our Qantas network in response to demand.

From 28 July 2024, our flights from Sydney to Shanghai will be suspended. Customers can continue to travel to Shanghai and other destinations in China on Qantas flights to Hong Kong with onward connections on partner airlines. Qantas Frequent Flyers can earn and redeem Qantas Points when travelling with partner airlines.

Customers booked to travel on Qantas operated flights to/from Shanghai from 28 July will be contacted with options including a full refund.

Alternatively if you wish to discuss rebooking on alternative flights:

  • If you've booked directly with us, call 13 13 13 (within Australia), or your local Qantas office to discuss options.
  • If you've booked through a third-party, including a travel agent, contact them for assistance.

We’ll continue to monitor the Australia-China market closely and will look to return to Shanghai when demand has recovered.

Visit Qantas News Room for the full media release.

Vanuatu: Flights to and from Port Vila

Due to Air Vanuatu being placed into liquidation, we've made the difficult decision to end our codeshare agreement to give our customers certainty and avoid delays in getting a refund and making alternative arrangements.

As a result, all Qantas (QF) codeshare flights with Air Vanuatu have been cancelled effective from 29 May 2024.

If you've booked codeshare flights through Qantas on or before 19 June 2024, you'll be eligible to receive a refund, or you can rebook to a Qantas operated flight departing from 10 September 2024.

  • If you booked directly with us, view your options including a refund at Manage Booking or via the Qantas App. For further support contact us on 13 13 13 (within Australia) or +61 2 8222 2439 (outside Australia), or your local Qantas office
  • If you've booked through a third-party, including a travel agent, contact them for assistance.
