Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park has a desert climate, which means clear skies, low average rainfall, high temperatures in summer and cool nights in winter. You can visit Uluru any time of the year. Plan ahead in summer, when high temperatures can mean that walks close early in the day. The average peak for January is 38°C and the record high is 45.4°C. In winter the thermometer can dip below freezing at night. Both Uluru and Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) are stunning at sunrise and sunset, and it’s a wonderful place to celebrate special moments.

Arriving at Ayers Rock/Connellan Airport
Once you collect your bags from the baggage collection area, there are a number of different transport options available to get you on your way. The airport is located a short 10 minute drive, about 8km from the resorts.
Getting into Ayres Rock
Rent a car from the hire services available at the airport and explore the region at your own pace. There is fairly high demand for cars, so it’s best to book well in advance. Taxis aren’t available at the Ayers Rock Airport, but there are shuttle buses provided by many of the hotels at the resort.
Getting around Ayres Rock
Private buses, tours and shuttles operate throughout Ayres Rock and car services are also available. The easiest way to get around the resort is by foot, all hotels including the campground are all within a 15 minute walk to the town square. A free shuttle bus circulates the resort daily stopping at all hotels, campground, town square, visitors centre and Uluru Camel Farm. To get out to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park you'll need to hire a car or take a guided tour.

What is the main airport called?
Osaka International Airport (ITM).Opens external site in a new window Often referred to as Itami Airport is the primary regional airport for the Kansai region of Japan, including the major cities of Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. It is the airport closest to Kyoto, 36 kilometres southwest of Kyoto Station. The airport is located about 10 km (6 miles) from Osaka city centre.
Passengers on Qantas flights from Osaka are allocated checked baggage. If you require extra luggage, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online before departure.
Passengers travelling from Osaka can check in online up to 24 hours in advance or check in at the terminal.
