Payment will be collected by individual car rental agencies at collection or return of the vehicle. Other charges such as tolls, fuel, local fees may also be payable.

The rental price and any quoted taxes and charges are approximate only and include GST. Refer to the table above for other fees and charges, including credit card fees and/or surcharges, or contact your car provider for details.

Avis and Budget Qantas Frequent Flyer vouchers can be redeemed for car bookings made on qantas.com when paying in cash, and cannot be used when redeeming Qantas Points. The Frequent Flyer voucher must be presented to Avis or Budget upon collection of the vehicle. Redemption is subject to availability of cars. Each voucher can be applied to the total cost of one rental only and credits will be issued for unused portions. One way rentals are not permitted. Vouchers can only be redeemed at Australian locations for bookings made on qantas.com at least 48 hours prior to pick up. A valid credit card must be presented at the time of rental. Availability and cost of an in-car navigation system, if requested, will be confirmed upon vehicle collection.

For other special requests, such as a child seat, contact the car provider directly. Additional fees apply and are payable directly to the car provider. Their contact details will be provided in your booking confirmation e-mail.

Mystery Car bookings made through qantas.com will be allocated by AvisOpens external site in a new window and BudgetOpens external site in a new window Group and will be subject to their standard terms and conditions.

Manager's Special Car bookings made through qantas.com will be allocated by Hertz and will be subject to their standard terms and conditionsOpens external site in a new window.

On collecting the rental vehicle at the pick-up location, you're required to show your driver's licence, provide a credit card, and to read and accept the car provider's rental conditions. A deposit or security bond may apply; see the fees and charges outlined above for more information.

You must be 21 years or older and hold a full drivers license to rent a vehicle with Avis, Budget, Hertz and Thrifty in Australia.

Avis - The minimum age to drive a vehicle with Avis is 21 years of age. All drivers must hold a current, full and valid drivers license, that has been valid for a minimum of 12 consecutive months. A young driver surcharge may apply. Digital driver’s licenses are only accepted in the issuing state. If you’re travelling interstate you must present a valid physical (plastic license). 

Budget - The minimum age to drive a vehicle with Budget is 21 years of age. All drivers must hold a current, full and valid drivers license, that has been valid for a minimum of 12 consecutive months. A young driver surcharge may apply. Digital driver’s licenses are only accepted in the issuing state. If you’re travelling interstate you must present a valid physical (plastic license). 

Hertz - The minimum age to rent a vehicle with Hertz is 21 throughout Australia with an additional Young Renter fee. However, the minimum age for Prestige, Dream and Adrenaline Collection© vehicles is 25 years old.

Thirfty - You and any person driving the vehicle must be 21 years of age or over (unless approved beforehand in writing by Thrifty) and must hold and present a current drivers licence that the driver has held for at least 12 consecutive months.

The following licences are required to operate commercial vehicles rented through Avis and Budget.
