Our Fly Well program brings together a number of wellbeing measures to give you peace-of-mind from takeoff to touchdown.

At the airport

We’ve introduced a number of health and safety measures to limit the contact that you may have with others as you check in and proceed to your departure gate.

Contactless check-in – ensure you complete check-in online or using the Qantas App before you arrive at the airport. Check-in opens from 24 hours before your flight.

Self-serve bag tag kiosks – use your digital boarding pass at our self-serve bag tag kiosks to print your baggage tags. If you’re a Qantas Frequent Flyer with a Q Bag Tag, you can head straight to bag drop and use this to tag any baggage you may want to check-in when flying within Australia.

Self-service Bag Drop – are available at selected airports to check your bags.

Enhanced cleaning - highly frequented areas are cleaned regularly.

In the lounge

We’ve re-opened some Australian domestic Qantas operated lounges and you’ll notice we've made some temporary changes to your experience.

Entry requirements - you'll be required to provide your contact details as part of COVID-19 contact tracing requirements and your vaccination status where state or territory governments require proof of vaccination to enter hospitality venues.

Capacity restrictions - social distancing rules apply, therefore access may be impacted by current government requirements.

Health and wellbeing – You are required to wear a mask when in our lounges unless you are eating or drinking. For more information see wearing face masks. Hand sanitising stations have also been installed throughout the lounge.

Amended services - hosted food and beverage services replace our traditional self-serve buffets.

Regular cleaning - highly frequented areas are cleaned regularly.

At the departure gates

As you make your way to your designated departure gate, our Fly Well program continues.

Social distancing - in waiting areas at departure gates and when boarding to minimise crowding.

Hand sanitising stations - available at departure gates.

Fly Well packs - collect your pack, containing a face mask and sanitising wipes, at the gate before you board.

Boarding - self-scanning of boarding passes.

Enhanced cleaning - highly frequented areas throughout the terminal are cleaned regularly.

On board the plane

While the risk of inflight transmission remains extremely low, we’ve introduced additional safety measures and updated our inflight services.

Cabin air - our aircraft air conditioning systems are fitted with hospital-grade HEPA filters, which remove 99.9% of all particles including viruses. The air inside the cabin is refreshed every few minutes, ensuring the highest possible air quality.

Fly Well pack - the face mask and sanitising wipes are included in your pack, and additional sanitising wipes are available on request. You are required to wear a face mask on all flights. For more information see wearing face masks.

Inflight - once seated, our crew will ask you to limit movement around the cabin. The aircraft configuration, including the seats and galley, act as a natural barrier, and people are not seated face to face. The direction of inflight airflow is ceiling to floor.

Enhanced cleaning - our aircraft are cleaned with a disinfectant effective against coronaviruses, with a focus on the high contact areas of seats, seatbelts, overhead lockers, air vents and toilets. Our people are trained in the latest hygiene protocols.

On arrival

Some Australian states and territories, and international governments, have introduced measures, including additional health and safety protocols, in response to Coronavirus. Check the latest government travel requirements for your destination.

Fly Well pack - when disembarking the aircraft, place any used sanitising wipes back into your pack, and dispose of it in the airport terminal bins on arrival.

Wearing face masks

Hand sanitiser and masks are available prior to boarding as part of our complimentary Fly Well packs, which can be collected as you board or onboard.

If you're unable to wear a mask, you don't need to advise us in advance, just present a valid medical certificateOpens external site in a new window at check-in, when boarding and on request by airport or airline staff.

You're required to wear a mask on all Australian domestic flights.

It is requirement by Federal, State and Territory governments to wear masks at airports and inflight. Your face mask needs to cover your mouth and nose, fit securely and must be worn unless you're under 12 years of age or have a medical exemption. A scarf or bandana is not considered a face mask.

When travelling within Australia, you'll need to wear your mask as soon as you enter the airport, and also inflight.

Ensure you’re aware of any government requirements that apply at your destination, including wearing face masks and coverings.

You'll need to wear your mask as soon as you enter the airport, during boarding and inflight.

If you're feeling unwell

If you're feeling unwell and experiencing COVID-19 symptoms in the week leading up to your flight, you should defer your travel plans.

Symptoms include:

Fever, fatigue or aches;
Runny nose, cough or sore throat;
Shortness of breath.

If you need to defer your plans, contact your local Qantas office before departure to discuss your options.
