Discover Perth

With an incredible outdoor lifestyle, relaxed beach vibe and sophisticated cultural scene, Perth is a city on the move. Not just a gateway to some of the world's most breathtaking landscapes, Perth is a luxury destination all of its own.

What are the must-see attractions in Perth?

Whether it's for a day, a month or a year, there's more than enough fun and adventure to be had in Perth to keep you or your whole family occupied. While it would be near impossible to list everything you can do and see in Perth, here are some highlights to get you started.

Unlike many cities around the world, Perth fully embraces its sublime natural setting as both a coastal and riverfront city. Whether it's a boat tour up the Swan to visit Western Australia's oldest wineries, a trip to Rottnest Island to marvel at the happiness of the quokka or an evening stroll along Cottesloe Beach to watch the sun sink into the ocean, you're never far from the water in Perth.

One of the best places to capture views of both the Swan River and Darling Range is the spectacular Kings Park and Botanic Garden. One of the world's largest inner city parks at 1,000 acres in size, the park showcases West Australian and international plants, and includes ponds, playgrounds, lookouts and the exciting Kings Park Festival in September.

No visit to Perth is complete without a visit to Rottnest Island. Known worldwide as the home to the incredibly friendly Quokka, a pint sized marsupial of impossible cuteness, Rottnest is also a haven for lovers of history and nature. With consistent surf breaks, superb hiking trails, museums, cafes and luxury accommodation, Rottnest Island is only 90 minutes by ferry from Perth, or 25 minutes from Fremantle. Sitting at the mouth of the Swan River, Fremantle is a historic port that has become a vibrant destination for all ages. Formerly home to legendary AC/DC frontman Bon Scott, Fremantle takes its music and arts culture seriously, with such festivals as the Fremantle International Street Arts Festival transforming the area every Easter.

Head on a tour of the convict era architecture, wander the sun-soaked beaches or grab a drink at Little Creatures Brewery, one of Australia's premium breweries built on what was once a crocodile farm on the Fremantle waterfront.

Feeling cultural? There's more than enough to whet your artistic appetite in Perth, with the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, the Art Gallery of Western Australia and the Western Australian Museum all well worth a visit.

If you are spending more than a few days in Perth, and we highly recommend you do, then be sure to head out of Perth to explore some more of this fascinating state. From the wineries of Margaret River in the South West to the remarkable other-wordly landscape of The Pinnacles roughly 200km to the north, Perth and Western Australia are like nowhere else on earth.
