Discover Brisbane

With high end shopping, an internationally recognised arts precinct, world famous events and a love of all things sporty, it's no surprise as to why Brisbane is considered to be the favourite to host the 2032 Summer Olympic Games. A city on the move with an enviable climate and world-class services, Brisbane is the place to be no matter what the time of year.

**What are the must-see attractions in Brisbane? **

Australia's fastest growing city, Brisbane's climate also makes it one of Australia's most liveable. With approximately 280 days of sunshine a year, the weather is almost always perfect to visit these must-see Brisbane attractions.

For those that love shopping, Brisbane is the ideal place to find your next favourite item or gift. The city centre is full of quality shops and boutiques to meet your every need, with the high end fashion labels offering boutique, locally focused collections in Queen Street Mall. Nearby Edward Street is also a must for the serious shopper.

South Bank is considered to be the artistic centre of Brisbane, and it's not hard to see why. With the cultural precinct including world-class galleries and museums like the Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Museum, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Queensland Maritime Museum and the Queensland Conservatorium, it's no secret that art is central to Brisbane life.

Head to South Bank also for quality restaurants, bars and cafes, as well as Adelaide Street for some of the most innovative culinary creations around. Fortitude valley caters to all tastes and budgets, while Eagle Street Pier is well known for its award-winning, high end cuisine.

Yet Brisbane is not just about South Bank and the inner city. With just a little bit of effort, you'll find a lot of rewards. Just 45 minutes drive east of the city is Wellington Point, a cute little waterfront suburb with superb cafes overlooking the islands of Moreton Bay. Beautiful and well worth a trip in any season, you can also walk across the sand to King Island when the tide is low.

Head 45 minutes south to Venman Bushland National Park and lose yourself (figuratively) in the natural beauty that only the Australian bush can offer. With well marked tracks, the highlight of the main 7.5 km walk is the views across the bush to the islands off the coast once you reach the top.

Hop on a ferry to Hamilton for the Eat Street Markets and enjoy a vast array of international flavours from colourful food trucks and stalls, all the while being serenaded by live music. James Street in Fortitude Valley has some serious upmarket boutique shopping and funky cafes, while those looking for a more traditional Brisbane experience can't go past the Ekka - the Royal Queensland Show.

A national institution held every August, Ekka celebrates the finest in Queensland's fresh produce, agricultural exhibits and competitions in such traditional areas as woodchopping. Visit the showbag pavilion, go on a ride or simply enjoy the carnival atmosphere in this celebration of all things Queensland.

Relax in the beauty of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, take a day trip to Moreton Island for a snorkelling, sandboard or kayak adventure, take a river cruise or climb the iconic Story Bridge - whatever it is you decide to do, Brisbane is the place to do it.
