New benefits and program changes coming
Over the next 12 months, we’ll be introducing a series of updates and enhancements to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program.

These changes will give you access to more premium cabin reward seats on partner airlines, lower reward seat fares on Jetstar and the ability to earn more points when you fly with Qantas.
There will also be some increases to our Classic Flight Reward fares - the first in six years. This change will help ensure we can continue investing in the program and provide ongoing value for our members now and in the future.

Frequently asked questions
These changes will help ensure we can continue investing in the program and provide ongoing value for our members now and in the future.
The number of Classic Flight Rewards available across the Qantas Group remains at more than 5 million, with millions more offered by our Partner Airline network.
Classic Flight Rewards are typically the best value reward seats you can book with Qantas Points, so they are incredibly popular among frequent flyers - particularly in Premium Cabins. While availability is limited, members continue to book Classic Flight Rewards in record numbers. Members may find seats more readily available outside peak travel periods, via Partner Airline hubs or by combining with cash seats as part of a mixed itinerary.
We will keep this page updated with the latest details of these changes, so please check back here closer to the effective dates.
More premium reward seats and airline partners
The points required for Premium Economy Classic Flight Rewards on Iberia, Finnair, Air France and KLM will be found on the updated Partner Classic Flight Reward table, plus taxes, fees and carrier charges, which will be available on or before 5 May 2025.
We are working towards making these seats available for booking from late 2025. We will update this page when more details become available.
The points required for Classic Flight Rewards on Hawaiian Airlines will be found on the updated Partner Classic Flight Reward table, plus taxes, fees and carrier charges, which will be available on or before 5 May 2025
Hawaiian Airlines offers flights connecting the islands of Hawaii with mainland North America, Asia and the South Pacific.
Yes. You can change an existing Classic Flight Reward booking in Economy to Premium Economy with Iberia, Finnair, Air France and KLM. Bookings are subject to Classic Flight Reward availability.
For bookings made prior to 5 August 2025:
- If you change your booking to Premium Economy, you will be charged a change fee as well as the additional points and carrier charge for the Classic Flight Reward, based on the current pricing structure.
For bookings made on or after 5 August 2025:
- If you change your booking to Premium Economy, you will be charged a change fee as well as the additional points and carrier charge for the Classic Flight Reward, based on the new pricing structure.
Better value reward seats with Jetstar
The Classic Flight Rewards with a new points amount of 5,700 points (plus taxes, fees and carrier charges) will apply to all Jetstar short haul domestic flights in Australia and New Zealand. Short haul being flights in Zone 1 of the Classic Reward Table (less than 600 miles in great circle distance one way).
Higher points earn on Qantas flights
The increase of up to 25 percent to base points earn applies to all Qantas marketed domestic flights. This does not include Jetstar or partner airline flights.
Changes to the earn rate will be effective from 22 July 2025. Members travelling on flights departing on or after 22 July 2025 will earn at the higher domestic earn rate and enjoy the increased Status Bonus points (if applicable) on all Qantas (QF) marketed flights.
A Status Bonus is additional points that members who hold Silver status and above earn for flying. The higher your tier, the higher your Status Bonus or the more Qantas Points you’ll earn with every eligible flight taken.
Members who hold Silver status and above will enjoy the increase in Status Bonus points on all Qantas (QF) marketed flights operating either domestically or internationally.
For example:
- All members receive the base earn for the purchased fare.
- In the example below a QF marketed Sydney to Los Angeles fare in Discount Business (I) class will earn a base of 13,500 Qantas Points.
- Today the Status Bonus is then added on top of that base as a percentage of the base Flexible Economy class earn (9,000) for the same route.

Increase in points required for Classic Flight Rewards and Classic Upgrade Rewards
For the first time in six years the number of points required to book a Classic Flight Reward will increase by up to 20 percent. This change will help ensure we can continue investing in the program, maintaining its value for members both now and in the future.
The carrier charge is a cash component that forms part of the overall Reward fare that is payable to an airline when making a flight redemption. The carrier charge helps balance the amount of points required for a reward seat.
The carrier charges for Business and First Classic Flight Rewards are increasing as part of the overall changes to Classic Rewards fares . Increasing the carrier charge helps balance the amount of points required for a reward seat.
The carrier charge portion of Classic Flight Reward taxes, fees and carrier charges will be aligned to Classic Plus Flight Rewards.
The full set of changes to points required for Classic Flight Rewards will be published on or before 05 May 2025, 90 days prior to them coming into effect. You will be able to find the full list of changes at:
Changes to the points required for Classic Flight Rewards and Classic Upgrade Rewards will be effective from 5 August 2025. The change will apply to all Classic Flight Rewards booked on or after 5 August 2025 for Qantas, Jetstar and partner airlines, and all upgrade requests made on or after 5 August 2025.
The number of points required to book Classic Flight Rewards on Emirates operated flights will soon be the same as Qantas. This will mean a reduction in the number of points required for Economy Classic Flight Rewards on the majority of Emirates operated flights, but an increase in the points required for Emirates Business and First Classic Flight Rewards.
Existing Classic Flight Reward bookings will retain the conditions in place at the time the booking was made. Any changes to Classic Flights Rewards booked before 5 August 2025, will not be charged the new points levels.
The points required for Classic Upgrade Rewards are based on the date the upgrade request was made. If you have requested a Classic Upgrade Reward before 5 August 2025, and the request is successful, the points that will be charged will be that of the level at the time of the request. The increase of points required will only apply to requests made on or after 5 August 2025, regardless of departure date.
