Travel to Hong Kong, SAR of China
Travelling has changed, and you may need to do a little more planning and preparation before take-off. Ensure you check and comply with all airline and government travel requirements before arriving at the airport.

As of 1 April 2023, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative RegionOpens external site in a new window has removed all pre-departure COVID-19 requirements for travel to Hong Kong, SAR.

Before booking and before departure, ensure you check the latest Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative RegionOpens external site in a new window and AustralianOpens external site government conditions for travel, which may include mandatory travel and health declarations, vaccinations, use of face masks, and immigration and entry requirements (which may include renewing your passport, or applying for a visa), or you could be denied entry. This information is subject to change and we recommend you check these websites frequently for any updates.
Some countries have restrictions around transiting. If you're transiting via another country or onto another international flight, ensure you check the requirements of your transiting and destination country to ensure their Government allows you to transit.
If your itinerary includes travel with another airline, or Qantas codeshare flights which are operated by another airline on their aircraft, you'll need to contact them directly to understand and meet their requirements.

You must ensure you comply with all other requirements for travel to Hong Kong.
Travel to Mainland China
If you're transiting at Hong Kong International airport with a connecting flight to Mainland China, you'll need to comply with China's State Council's entry requirements, which include:
- all passengers aged three and above, must present a printed copy of a negative COVID-19 RAT or PCR test result, taken no more than 48 hours before departure, and
- a completed Health Declaration form and present the confirmation QR code on departure. The form can be completed online, on the Wechat mini-program of China Customs, or via the China Customs app.

Travel to other destinations
If you're transiting at Hong Kong International airport with a connecting flight to another destination, you don't need to have pre-departure test or provide evidence of vaccination.
However, you're required to meet the entry requirements of all countries that you're travelling to and transiting through.
