Best time to visit Auckland

The best time to visit Auckland is during the summer months, from December to February (15–30 ℃), to make the most of the outdoor adventures on offer, from ferry trips out to Waiheke Island to the nearby beaches. Auckland’s weather is pleasant year-round, there is no bad time for sightseeing. June to August are Auckland’s winter months, with August (5–18℃) the best time for snow sports.

Arriving in Auckland

The helpful and friendly Auckland Airport staff will greet you when you land, and from there, getting into the CBD is easy.  

Getting into Auckland from Auckland Airport 

Conveniently located between both Auckland city and Manukau city, there are a number of bus, shuttle, taxi and rideshare services which can pick you up from the terminal. Alternatively, you may wish to hire a car to explore the scenic destinations surrounding the city.  It’s best to allow plenty of time when travelling to and from the airport to cater for any delays and ensure you arrive at least three hours before your international flight or one hour before your domestic flight. 

Getting around Auckland

Getting around Auckland is easy and affordable, whether you’re using public transport, driving, catching taxis and transfers, joining a tour, or even hiring a bike. Situated in County Down, it is adjacent to the Port of Belfast and is 3 miles from Belfast City Centre. It is located just 5 minutes from Belfast city centre.

Baggage allowance

Passengers on Qantas flights from Belfast are allocated checked baggage. If you require extra luggage, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online before departure. 

Checking in

Passengers travelling from Belfast can check in online up to 24 hours in advance or check in at the terminal by visiting a kiosk or desk.

 This offer applies to Qantas operated flights for the following dates: Australian Domestic: booked between 21 May 2020 and 30 April 2022, for travel between 12 June 2020 and 30 April 2022. Trans-Tasman: booked between 15 October 2020 and 30 June 2022, for travel between 16 October 2020 and 31 December 2022. International: booked between 25 February 2021 and 30 June 2022, for travel between 1 November 2021 and 31 December 2022. If you decide to change the date of your travel, we'll waive the change fee. You'll need to change your flight before your scheduled date of departure and select a new travel date within 12 months of your original booking date. When you're ready to rebook, you'll also need to cover any fare increase for your new flight, if applicable. For all changes, your applicable Fare Rules and the Qantas Conditions of Carriage apply.
