Bookings through travel agencies or third-party websites

If your flights were booked through a travel agency or third-party website (for example Webjet or Booking.com), contact these companies directly to make changes to your booking.

Bookings through us directly

If your flight is cancelled

Please standby and wait to hear from us before changing your booking. We'll be contacting anyone whose flight has been impacted over the next week to let you know your options.

If your flight is not cancelled

Anyone holding a Qantas ticket for travel before 31 July 2020 can get a flight credit and retain the full value of your booking. You'll need to do this by 30 April 2020. The flight credit is valid for booking and travel by 31 December 2021. This gives you more than 18 months to plan, rebook and travel.  

If you already have a Qantas flight credit issued on or after 31 January 2020, this will also be automatically extended but may take a few weeks to update in our system. 

No change fees apply when rebooking but note that the flight credit can only be used towards a fare of equal or higher value than the original fare you purchased.

If you’re flying after 31 July 2020

If you've booked your flights directly with us, and no longer wish to travel, you can choose to change to a new date, or cancel your booking and use the value towards a future flight.  

Change and cancellation fees may apply. To check your fare conditions for change and cancellation information, enter your last name and booking reference at Manage booking, then move down to the flight section. 

Changes to international flights

All Qantas and Jetstar scheduled international flights will be suspended from the end of March until at least 31 May 2020. Some additional services may be considered to assist with repatriation.  More than 150 aircraft will be grounded during this time, including all of our A380s, 747s and 787s.  

Changes to Australian domestic flights

As the national carrier, we'll be looking to maintain essential domestic, regional and freight connections as much possible. However, we'll be suspending more than 50 per cent of our domestic flying until the end of May 2020. The reduction in capacity will come from a significant reduction in flight frequency, route suspensions and postponing a number of new route launches.

Temporary lounge, meeting room and valet parking closures

Due to government restrictions, all Qantas operated lounges across our network are closed until further notice. Some of our Australian domestic meeting rooms have also been closed until further notice.

We are currently considering options for impacted customers. 

Qantas Frequent Flyer tier status

We understand the importance of preserving the travel benefits that you’ve earned through your loyalty to us. We’ll be applying an automatic 12-month extension of membership tier status for eligible Qantas Frequent Flyers. If you are a Qantas Business Rewards member, we'll be in touch in the coming weeks with an update on your QBR membership level.   

Qantas Club memberships and complimentary lounge invitations

Due to lounge closures, we’ll be applying an automatic six-month extension to paid Qantas Club memberships with an active membership on 23 March 2020. 

We’re also extending most complimentary lounge invitations by six months.

If you’re flying in the coming weeks

If you’re travelling onboard one of our aircraft over the coming weeks, we want to reassure you we’re taking precautions to protect the health of our customers and people. Our high cleaning standards and hospital-grade air filtration systems mean the risk of catching a virus on an aircraft is low, particularly when you practice good personal hygiene. Additionally, the US Centres for Disease Control (CDC) advises, "the cabin air environment is not conducive to the spread of most infectious diseases".

Travelling to Australia

The Australian Government has restricted entry into Australia, though Australian citizens or permanent residents (and their immediate family) are exempt. The government has also announced that all new arrivals are required to self isolate for 14 days.

It’s important that you meet the immigration requirements for entry into countries/territories with new restrictions otherwise you won't be permitted to board your flight.
