Shimmering skyscrapers soaring above old town squares. The juxtaposition does not jolt: Rather, Frankfurt am Main cleverly blends both medieval and modern like few European cities.

A financial powerhouse, Frankfurt attracts thousands of business travellers each year, being the location of both the German and European Central Banks, along with one of the world’s most influential stock exchanges. It also hosts large-scale trade and book fairs.

But beneath the gleaming metropolis of “Bankfurt am Main” you'll discover a traditional city that has long held onto its old world charm. Linger in cosy taverns serving 'Apfelwein' (apple wine) and hearty local cuisine. Add the numerous exhibitions, art-lined streets, parks and gardens to stroll through, and you’ll see why so many visitors are surprisingly charmed by Germany’s most international city.
