How to travel between Domestic and International terminals at Sydney Airport

Navigate the Sydney Airport Domestic and International terminals with ease using our guide to transfers. There are lots of ways you can move between terminals including the Qantas Terminal Transfer service, the Sydney Airport T-Bus, the train, taxi and Ubers.

Qantas Terminal Transfers

Our Qantas Terminal Transfer is available if you've booked onwards travel with Qantas or one of our oneworld partners, and are travelling between International (T1) and Qantas Domestic (T3).

You're eligible to use this service if you're travelling on one of the following trips.*

International to domestic:

  • A Qantas operated international flight, connecting to a Qantas operated domestic flight.

  • A codeshare, partner or non-Qantas partner international flight, connecting to a Qantas operated domestic flight.

Domestic to international:

  • A Qantas operated domestic flight, connecting to a Qantas operated international flight.

Finding your way to your Qantas Terminal Transfer

Follow these steps when travelling from the International terminal (T1) to the Qantas Domestic terminal (T3): 

Step one

After you leave the aircraft, make your way through immigration. You must collect your bags before clearing customs.

Step two

Exit customs and follow the signs in the arrival hall. You’ll walk approximately 4 minutes to the T3 transfer area, located outside the terminal.

Third step

If you're travelling with checked baggage, leave your bag tag on, and head to bag drop to recheck your bag with a Qantas staff member.

Fourth step

Proceed through security to the waiting zone to board your transfer bus to the terminal.

How do I know when my Qantas Terminal Transfer is leaving?

Transfer buses depart approximately every 10 minutes between 6.00am and 9.30pm every day, with a travel time of approximately 15 minutes.

How do I find Qantas Terminal Transfers?

After clearing customs with your luggage, exit the security hall and turn right, walking approximately 4 minutes to the T3 transfer hall, located outside the terminal. You can also refer to our terminal map for directions.

What happens if I miss a transfer bus and I'm at risk of missing my connection?

The buses run every 10 minutes between 6.00am and 9.30pm, simply jump on the next bus available. If you’re concerned about your connection please speak with the staff at Gate 15.

Where do I go if my incoming flight is delayed and I miss my connecting flight?

Please speak with a staff member in the terminal, they’ll be happy to assist you with your connecting flight.

Follow these steps if you are travelling from the Qantas Domestic Terminal (T3) to the International Terminal (T1):

Step one

After you leave the aircraft, stay inside the terminal and make your way to Gate 15.

Step two

Wait for the next bus to arrive at Gate 15 and hop on board for a short trip to the international terminal.

Third step

After arriving at T1, make your way through immigration and security.

How do I know when my Qantas Terminal Transfer is leaving?

Transfer Buses depart from gate 15 approximately every 10 minutes between 6.00am and 9.30pm every day, with a travel time of approximately 15 minutes.

How do I find Qantas Terminal Transfers?

After disembarking the aircraft, remain in the terminal and make your way to Gate 15.

I am flying on a different airline into Sydney and connecting to an international Qantas flight, can I use Qantas Terminal Transfers?

We recommend using the free Sydney Airport T-Bus bus instead. This is because you’ll likely arrive at T2 and the Qantas Terminal Transfers only operate between T3 and T1.

Sydney Airport T-Bus

The T-Bus is Sydney Airport’s complimentary shuttle bus service between the T1 International and T2 or T3 Domestic terminals. If you're not eligible for the Qantas Terminal Transfer, or you need a transfer outside of the operation times, you can also use the Sydney Airport T-Bus. The service currently operates every 15 minutes between 5.30am and 10.30pm. The trip takes 10 minutes.

From T1 International to T2 or T3 Domestic – You can find the T-Bus on the arrivals level outside of Arrival Hall B. Follow the signs for T2 and T3 Domestic Transfer.

From T2 or T3 Domestic to T1 International – You can find the T-Bus on the arrivals level outside each terminal.

Other connections

Train, Taxi or Uber

If our Qantas Terminal Transfer or the T-Bus is unavailable, alternative options include paid train services, taxi or Uber. Ensure you allow enough time to check in for your onward flight, and collect your baggage if required.  

Transferring between Sydney Domestic T2 and T3

If you need to transfer between the general T2 Domestic terminal and the Qantas T3 Domestic terminal, walking is the best way to get between the two terminals and takes approximately 7 minutes. Simply follow the pedestrian walkways and directional signs through the car park or through the airport train tunnel link.
