Avalanche rescue backpack
What avalanche rescue backpack you can carry and requirements of how to pack:
Requirements
- Only one per passenger is permitted.
- Only fitted with one cylinder of division 2.2, non-flammable, non-toxic gas.
- Fitted with pressure relief valves on the airbags.
If a pyrotechnic trigger is fitted:
- no more than 200mg of division 1.4S explosive is permitted, and
- the backpack must be packed so that it can't be accidentally activated.
Camping stoves - flammable liquids
What camping stove you can carry and requirements of how to pack:
Important
- Camping stoves and liquid fuel containers must be declared during check-in.
- If the item has not been flushed or any fuel smell is detected during the check-in process (including an inspection), the item will be denied carriage.
Requirements

Flushed in accordance with Declaration/flushing procedures liquid fuel camping stove and tank/fuel containers form (PDF).

Fuel canisters/refills are forbidden.
To request airline approval, complete and attach the declaration form to the email.
Camping stoves - gas
What camping stove you can carry and requirements of how to pack:
Requirements
- Fuel canisters/refills are forbidden.
If any smell of gas is detected during the check-in process (including an inspection), the item will be denied carriage.
CO2 and non-flammable gas cartridges
What gas cartridges you can carry and requirements of how to pack:
Requirements
- Up to four cartridges are permitted per passenger.
- Up to 28g or 50mL per cartridge.
EPIRBs and Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs)
What EPIRBs and beacons you can carry and requirements of how to pack:
No airline approval is required for the following:
- lithium-ion batteries under 100Wh,
- lithium-metal batteries with a lithium-metal content less than 2g, or
- non-spillable batteries under 12V and 100Wh.
All equipment must be packed to prevent accidental activation.
Heat producing devices (e.g. diving lamp)
What you can carry and requirements of how to pack:
Important
- Heat producing devices, e.g. diving lamps and soldering irons, containing a lithium battery exceeding 100Wh and not exceeding 160Wh must be declared during check-in.
- Devices containing flammable gas canisters are forbidden.
Requirements
- The battery or heat producing component must be isolated from each other, e.g. battery has been removed.
- If the battery is removed, it must be in carry-on baggage only.
- The battery terminals must be protected e.g. taping over the exposed terminals.
*Lithium batteries not exceeding 100Wh don't require approval.
Internal combustion engines
What combustion engines you can carry and requirements of how to pack:
Requirements
- Complete the Flushing procedures internal combustion engine and fuel declaration form (PDF).
- Fuel canisters/refills are forbidden.
To request airline approval, complete and attach the declaration form to the email.
Portable fridge
What portable fridges you can carry and requirements of how to pack:
Requirements
- Contains less than 12kg of non-flammable gas e.g. R134a.
The type and quantity of non-flammable gas may be printed on the equipment specification plate on the fridge.
Self-inflating safety devices e.g. lifejackets, airbag vests and jackets
What self-inflating devices you can carry and requirements of how to pack:
Requirements
- No more than two self-inflating safety device per passenger.
- No more than two CO2 (carbon dioxide) non-flammable gas cartridges (2.2) fitted in the self-inflating safety device.
- Up to two spare cartridges per device are permitted.
