About the Qantas Distribution Platform


The Qantas Distribution Platform has been developed in partnership with leading global travel technology company Farelogix Inc. and utilises IATA's New Distribution Capability (NDC) standard, and Application Program Interface (API) technology to:

  • Communicate richer information about the Qantas experience at the point of sale.
  • Build and distribute new merchandising offers that leverage rich data.
  • Create a more transparent and personalised customer experience.
  • Enhance the selling experience for our Travel Agencies.
     

The Qantas Distribution Platform is IATA NDC@Scale certified and is designed to allow Technology Partners to develop a connection to our NDC XML API. The Qantas Distribution Platform does not have a customer-facing user interface.

The Qantas Distribution Platform is a key part of Qantas’ broader digital evolution, and an important step in the delivery of the best possible experience for travel agents and customers.

Technology Partners and Travel Agencies are both invited to connect to the Qantas Distribution Platform. 

Why Qantas is developing a new distribution platform and embracing NDC

Customer preferences are evolving, and Qantas has responded by investing in NDC to offer a wider range of products and more dynamic content, via the indirect channel which adds value for both customers and our Travel Agencies.

The Qantas Distribution Platform improves the information that can be communicated between Qantas and Technology Partners, beyond price, schedule and availability, enabling a more personalised customer experience.

The Qantas Distribution Platform improves the functionality of indirect agent channels by more closely aligning them with the capabilities currently available via Qantas.com, making it easier for agents to sell Qantas products and provide a more seamless customer experience.

Qantas is working with Technology Partners including: GDS', Travel Agencies, Online Booking Tools, Aggregators and new technology providers who are interested in developing a connection to the QDP to provide personalised and new content, tailored offers, and delivering innovative, exceptional customer and travel agent sales experiences.

Capability Roadmap

Qantas, in conjunction with our Technology Provider, Farelogix Inc., has made significant progress in the development of end to end NDC capability via our Qantas Distribution Platform. We have Technology Partners live in production, and customers already enjoying the benefits that NDC delivers.

In addition to ensuring we support end to end shop, book and service capability for Travel Agencies, Qantas is also focussed on delivering new and innovative content to market, as we look to unlock the benefits of visual merchandising and personalised offers for both our Travel Agencies  and customers.
