Baggage tracking

With the 'Track my bags' feature in the Qantas App, you can view the status of your checked baggage on eligible flights.

To be eligible for baggage tracking, whether flying direct or with a connecting flight, you’ll need to be travelling on a Qantas marketed and operated flight.

Bag tracking isn't available when flying on codeshare flights operated by Qantas, partner airlines or group bookings of more than 10 passengers.

How to use baggage tracking

Make sure you've downloaded the latest version of the Qantas App.

Why isn't the 'Track my bags' option appearing in my Qantas App?
why

This feature will only appear in the Trips section of your app if you have checked luggage, and if you're travelling on an eligible flight. You'll also need to have downloaded the latest version of the Qantas App.

Baggage tracking isn't available on Qantas codeshare flights.

The 'Track my bags' feature doesn’t seem to be showing the correct status. What should I do?
status
Proceed to the designated baggage carousel upon arrival in your destination. If your bag doesn't arrive, submit a delayed baggage report online or through the 'Track my bags' section of the Qantas App. If you require further assistance, go to the Qantas Baggage Services counter, or call 1300 306 980 (within Australia) or the local airport contact if outside of Australia.
The Qantas App shows status 'Arrived: ready to collect', but there are no bags left at the carousel. What should I do?
carousel
If there are no bags at the carousel, submit a delayed baggage report online or through the 'Track my bags' section of the Qantas App. For further assistance, go to the airport Baggage Services counter or call 1300 306 980 (within Australia).
Why is my Bluetooth tracking device (e.g. Apple AirTag) showing a different bag location to what's displayed in the Qantas App?
location

If your Bluetooth tracking device and the Qantas App show your bag in different locations, it may be because:

  • your bag may not have scanned correctly in our systems; or
  • your Bluetooth tracking device could be inaccurate. Network coverage and environmental or physical obstructions, including the body of the aircraft, can affect the accuracy of Bluetooth tracking devices. Bluetooth trackers that require an internet connection may also be less reliable; or
  • your bag may have been offloaded for operational reasons.

On arrival, check the designated carousel and if your bag isn't there, submit a delayed baggage report online or through the 'Track my bags' section of the Qantas App. If you require further assistance, go to the airport Baggage Services counter or call 1300 306 980 (within Australia).

What if my carousel number in the Qantas App is different to the carousel number displayed on airport screens?
different
Carousel information can change with short notice because of operational requirements. Refer to the baggage carousel screens at the airport to confirm the correct carousel to collect your bags. Carousel information is being progressively rolled out within the Qantas App.
Why can't I see my baggage carousel information in the Qantas App?
information
Baggage carousel information is currently only available for selected flights and destinations. If you can’t see this feature, refer to the baggage carousel screens at the airport. Carousel information is being progressively rolled out within the Qantas App.
Will my oversized items, such as wheelchairs, prams, sporting and musical equipment, be tracked?
oversized
Yes. However, ensure you seek assistance from a Qantas Customer Service team member after you print your Qantas bag tag to activate tracking for your oversized item.
My cabin bag was offloaded because of limited overhead cabin space and checked in to the same flight. Will I be able to track this bag?
cabin
You won't be able to track your cabin bag. Proceed to the designated carousel on arrival to collect your bag.
Will other people be able to see my baggage tracking information?
others

You’ll be able to see the checked bags and tracking information for all passengers who are travelling with you on the same booking reference.

You won't be able to see other people's baggage information if they don't share the same booking reference as you, or if you're part of a group booking with more than 10 passengers.
