Places to stay

When it comes to choosing a place to stay in Miami, every option is more glamourous and glitzy than the next. Year-round swimming, modernised art deco hotels, and umbrella-spotted beaches are a mainstay in the famous party areas of South Beach and Miami Beach. After a sunny beach-side stay on a budget? The ultra-cool Generator Miami and The Freehand in South Beach are hostels that feel more like a boutique hotel.

Fine-dining and fabulous hotels go hand in hand in Miami with the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, Faena and The Betsy South Beach. Fast-paced and full of life, Little Havana is a thriving community and fun accommodation option. To be at the heart of Miami's cutting-edge art scene, base yourself amongst the coffee shops, dive bars and eclectic galleries of Wynwood. If you’re looking for a more premium stay hit up the brand-name boutiques, sophisticated restaurants and trendy galleries of the Miami Design District. No matter where you decide to stay in Miami, you won’t be disappointed.

Things to do

Sun, sand, and salsa—it's all on in Miami. Get up early and land one of the sun loungers that dot the shores of Miami Beach for a morning sunbake. Need to fuel up before setting off for the day? Grab some kosher baked goods from Zak the Baker. Reeling from a night out? Try the filled cornflour cakes known as arepas to refuel or hit the buffet at the historic Biltmore Hotel's classic Sunday brunch.

Go gallery hopping in Wynwood and marvel at the works that fill the Bakehouse Art Complex and the Rubell Family Collection or just walk the streets and take in the suburbs graffiti. If you’re a bit of an architecture buff, wander through the South Beach's Art Deco Historic District and take in its colourful array of buildings.

Celebrate the city's rich Cuban heritage by seeking out some of the city's, best Cuban food. Sample a wide variety of Cuban specialities from the open-air market El Palacio de Los Jugos, chow down on crispy finger food at Croqueta Queens or go for a classic Cubano sandwich at Enriqueta's Sandwich Shop. Wash all these down with an afternoon of cocktails at The Standard Lido Bar and Lounge. In Miami, the nights are as long and hot as the days. So, seek shelter at Alter or embrace the heat by hitting the dance floor at Story. Feel the heat of one of America’s hottest cities.
