Qantas Club Membership and Lounge Invitation Extensions

Whether you’re travelling for business or reuniting with loved ones, we know that relaxing in a Qantas lounge is an important part of your journey. We understand however that over the past few months there has been fewer opportunities to use our lounges with the travel restrictions in place.

  • In March 2020, we announced a six-month extension of paid Qantas Club memberships, for members active as at 23 March 2020.
  • We’re now extending paid Qantas Club memberships for a further six-months, for members active as at 23 September 2020.

Qantas Club Membership

What does a further six-month Qantas Club membership extension mean?
Qantas will ensure that eligible paid Qantas Club members with a membership year anniversary date between 23 September 2020 and August 2024 will automatically receive a six-month extension on their Qantas Club membership.

Who is eligible for the complimentary six-month Qantas Club membership extension?
The extension will only be awarded to Qantas Club members with an active membership as at 23 September 2020, who purchased their Individual, Corporate, Partner, or Group membership or an Annual Guest Card, using a credit or debit card, or Qantas Points.

I currently have a complimentary Qantas Club membership; will I be eligible to receive the further six-month extension?
No, you will not be eligible for the extension. The extension will only be awarded to paid Qantas Club members with an active membership as at 23 September 2020, who purchased their Qantas Club Individual, Corporate, Partner, or Group membership or an Annual Guest Card, using a credit or debit card, or Qantas Points.

Do I need to register to get my Qantas Club membership extended?
No, we will automatically extend your membership period by the end of September 2020. We will take care of everything and there is no need to contact the Call Centre.

When will my Qantas Club membership be extended?
If your Qantas Club membership is due to expire between September 2020 and August 2024, your current Qantas Club membership will automatically be renewed by the end of September 2020, with an additional six-months extension from the original month of expiry.

The processing date for the six-month extension cannot be changed.

We will continue to monitor the situation, with a view to reassess in the coming months.

Once your membership has been extended, your updated Membership Year end date can be viewed at qantas.com in My Account or the Qantas App. We will not be re-issuing new Qantas Club membership cards and recommend you download the Qantas App to view your digital card which can be presented to the lounge team upon arrival at eligible airport lounges in Australia and overseas.

When will my Annual Guest Card be extended?
If you have purchased an Annual Guest Card, this will also be extended for an extra six months. If the Annual Guest Card membership year ends between September 2020 and August 2021, your existing guest card can be used to gain entry to the lounge for the additional six months.  No new annual guest card will be issued.

I am currently a Gold, Platinum or Platinum One Qantas Frequent Flyer member with an existing paid Qantas Club membership that is currently on hold; will I be eligible to receive the six-month extension on my paused Qantas Club membership?
No, you will not be eligible for the extension as you are a Gold, Platinum or Platinum One member and you would have received the 12-month Tier Status Extension, which will ensure you have lounge access extended under your current Tier. The extension will only be awarded to Qantas Club members with an active paid membership as at 23 September 2020.

My Qantas Club membership has expired, and I am no longer a member; if I join today, will I be eligible to receive the six-month extension?
No, you will not be eligible for the extension. New Qantas Club membership joins or renewals are currently unavailable. The extension will only be awarded to Qantas Club members with an active membership as at 23 September 2020, who purchased their Qantas Club Individual, Corporate, Partner, or Group membership or an Annual Guest Card, using a credit or debit card, or Qantas Points.

Where can I see my Qantas Club Membership Year end date?
You can view your original Membership Year end date on your physical membership card. 

If you don’t have a membership card you can also view your Membership Year end date at qantas.com in My Account or the Qantas App.

What date will my Qantas Club membership be extended to?
Your current Membership Year end date will extend by a further six months.  

Will I receive a new membership card?
No, during this time you will not receive a new kit or physical card.

What happens if I have recently renewed my Qantas Club membership; will I still be eligible to receive the six-month extension?
Yes, you will be eligible for the extension. The extension will only be awarded to Qantas Club members with an active paid membership as at 23 September 2020.  

I have paid for my original Qantas Club membership using Qantas Points; will I still be eligible to receive the six-month extension?
Yes, you will be eligible for the extension. The extension will only be awarded to Qantas Club members with an active membership as at 23 September 2020, who purchased their Qantas Club Individual, Corporate, Partner, or Group membership or an Annual Guest Card, using a credit or debit card, or Qantas Points.

Can I choose when I would like to use the additional six-month extension?
No. The extension will automatically be applied to the end of your current paid Qantas Club membership.

My partner is on a Partner membership, will their membership be extended too?
Yes, your Partner will be eligible for the extension as long as your partner was a Qantas Club member with an active membership as at 23 September 2020, and the Partner membership was purchased using a credit or debit card, or Qantas Points.

Can I transfer the extra six months to another Qantas Club member?
No, the extension will apply to your membership only and is non-transferable.

Will I retain all my Qantas Club membership benefits for the additional six months?
Yes, you will have access to all the usual Qantas Club membership benefits.

Do I have any other option for my current paid Qantas Club membership instead of an extension?
If you’re seeking other options, including a refund, please contact our Qantas Call Centre to discuss.

Complimentary Lounge Invitations

I have a number of Complimentary Lounge Invitations. Are invitations being extended by six months?
You’ll be pleased to know we’re extending most Complimentary Lounge Invitation/s automatically for a further six months so that you can take advantage of the Qantas lounge experience. The extension will be automatically applied to your invitation/s and updated in your profile.

You can view the updated expiry date/s of your invitation/s via the Complimentary Lounge Invitations portal.  

For members who joined our Points Club program, your newly acquired lounge invitations have been issued with a 12-month validity, expiring in 2021, so the extension will not apply to these invitations.  

For members who received a lounge invitation upon attaining or retaining Silver Tier status, you have received one additional lounge invitation along with your 12-month Tier Status Extension so the further six-month extension will not apply to your original invitation.

When will my Complimentary Lounge Invitations be extended?
If your Complimentary Lounge Invitations were issued on/prior to 23 September 2020 and still valid as of this date, they will automatically be extended by the end of September 2020, with an additional six-months from the original date of expiry.
