When to visit

The best time to travel to Tel Aviv is during spring and autumn seasons (April to May and September to October). The days are pleasantly warm, with temperatures in the mid-to-late twenties and the nights are cool. June to August can be quite hot during the day, around 32°C, though is a good time to enjoy the beach clubs if you like the heat.

Ben Gurion Airport (TLV),Opens external site in a new window also known as Tel Aviv Airport. It is the main international airport in Israel, located 20km southeast of Tel Aviv.

The helpful staff at Tel Aviv Airport will greet you when you land and assist you with your travel needs. Once you collect your bags from the arrivals area, there are various transport options available to get you on your way.         

Getting into Tel Aviv from Tel Aviv Airport     

Getting into Tel Aviv from the airport is easy, with a range of transport options available. Choose from taxi, ride-share, train, bus, hotel shuttle or car hire. Taxi is a convenient option, taking just 20 minutes to get to the city centre with ranks located on the ground level. Or, you may like to request an Uber through the app for a comfortable way to travel. One of the most efficient ways to get to Tel Aviv city centre is to take the train. The Ben Gurion Airport Railway Station is located on the lower level of Terminal, taking 21 minutes to city centre. Several bus companies provide transport to downtown Tel Aviv or you can take the airport shuttle for a reliable transport option. Car rental is available at the airport with a range of car hire providers to choose from or arrange a transfer with your hotel.   

Getting around Tel Aviv 

Some of the best ways to experience Tel Aviv in on foot, bus, bicycle, taxi, Uber or car hire. One of the best ways to explore the city centre is on foot to take in all the sights at your own pace. Walking along the Tel Aviv Promenade is a lovely way to take in the Mediterranean Sea or strolling through Tarkon Park and the open air market. Bike is a fun way to get around Tel Aviv, as the city is mainly flat. There are plenty of bike trails in the city and it's easy to hire a bike through the bike share system. There is an efficient bus network throughout the city and it's best to download the Moovit app. Keep in mind, buses do not operate on the Sabbath, i.e. from Friday evening to Saturday evening. There is an overground train system, which is a quick way to get around and tickets are reasonably priced. Taxis are a fast and reliable to get around the city and easy to hail from the street. It's popular to pre-order a taxi through the GETT app, or you can request a car through Uber. You can rent a car, though traffic can be busy or use the city's car-share program.
