Siem Reap has a tropical climate. The dry northeast monsoon season runs from December through April, while the southwest monsoon from May to November brings wet weather and high humidity. Getting into Siem Reap from Siem Reap Airport
Getting into Siem Reap is easy with a range of transport options to suit your needs. Choose from taxis, hotel shuttle or tuk-tuk. Taxi is the safest means of transport, with airport taxis lining up just in front of the arrivals terminal. The airport is located 8km from the city centre and on average takes approximately 20 minutes to the city depending on the traffic. Airport tuk-tuks are available and are a handy option, with a set fare to the city. Alternatively, you may wish to organise a hotel shuttle.
Getting around Siem Reap
You can choose to walk, hire a bike, take a taxi, bus, tuk-tuk or rent a bike. Tuk-tuks are the most popular ways of getting around in Siem Reap, it’s a carriage pulled by a motorcycle and great for short trips. You can hail a tuk-tuk anywhere in the street and is a handy mode of transport. Renting a bike is a fun way to get around, with guest houses offering use of bikes or it’s easy to rent one. City taxis are available and are a safe and fast way to travel, though they are not metered, or you can hire a driver for the day. You can rent a bike, scooter or hire an electric car, alternatively you may wish to join a tour.
