When to visit

Paris experiences warm summers and cold winters. The best time to visit Paris is in spring (March to May), where temperatures average around 11 °C, when the trees blossom making it a lovely time to stroll around the Jardin du Luxembourg gardens. Autumn (September and October) is also a popular time to visit with Paris Fashion week in full swing and enjoy dining in the brasseries. November and December are cold, though very pretty with the Christmas lights, window shopping and seasonal cheer. Temperatures are around 3°C. July and August are the peak travel seasons, though the city is warm with temperatures around 25°C.

Arriving in Paris

When your flight arrives in Paris, you’ll be welcomed by the staff the airport to get your visit off to the right start.

Getting into Paris from Paris Airport

With a wide range of transport options available at Paris Airport, travelling into the city centre is easy. Choose from train, TGV, bus, taxi, airport transfer, hotel shuttle, car rental, or Uber. By train, take the RER B direct rail link from the airport to Paris. This is the fastest public transport option to the heart of Paris. The journey time is approximately 25 minutes with trains every 15 minutes. Take the TGV (high speed train) from the SNCF railway station located between Terminals 2C, 2D, 2E and 2F. The RoissyBus is a cheaper option, stopping at Paris-Opera and takes around 60 minutes, or if you are heading to Disneyland Paris, there is the Disneyland Magical Shuttle, that takes 45 minutes. If you need to transfer between CDG and Orly, there is a shuttle service. Taxis are located at the arrivals level and recognised by the light sign on the roof of the car, alternatively you may wish to request an Uber. It's possible to rent a car from one of the many providers, or a convenient option is to organise a hotel transfer.

Getting around Paris

Getting around Paris is easy, with plenty of public transport options to suit your needs. Choose from metro, sightseeing bus, Uber, on foot and bikes. The metro is relatively simple to use and stops at all the major sights. It’s best to buy a visitor pass for a more efficient way to travel around the city. Taxis are available which can be hailed on the street or caught at taxi ranks, alternatively you can request an Uber. As the public transport system is excellent and most of central Paris can be explored on foot, it’s not necessary to rent a car in the city, as parking and traffic can be difficult. A popular way of getting around Paris is to hire a bike, with stands all throughout the city. It's easy to hire a bike and cycle around the romantic city or take your time and explore the city on foot to take in the city sights.
