When to visit
Austin has a humid subtropical climate where the summers are very long and hot and winters tend to be short and mild. Summer (June to August) has scorching heat making it barley tolerable to enjoy the city. Autumn (September to November) is the best time to visit with many outdoor activities and music events, including the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Temperatures range between 21 to 32°C, making it the perfect time to enjoy a swim in Barton Springs pool.

The helpful staff at Austin International Airport will be greet you when you land. Once you collect your bags from the arrivals area, there are a number of different transport options available to get you on your way.
Getting into Austin from Austin International Airport
There are multiple transport options available for passengers at Austin airport to get to downtown Austin. There are several taxi services and rental car companies available at AUS terminal. Other standard transport options include the Capital Metro Bus Line and ride-hailing services from companies such as Uber, Lyft and Ride Austin. SuperShuttle is also available to transport passengers from the airport to locations around the city. Frequent shuttle service to downtown is available for those that want to explore Austin's many diverse entertainment districts. Limousines and charter services are also available.
Getting around Austin
It’s easy to get around Austin with many modes of transport available. Capital Metro Bus System has more than 1,600 bus stops and 82 routes, Central Texas is served by local, MetroRapid limited-stops, MetroFlyer, MetroExpress and University of Texas Shuttle routes. The CapMetro App allows riders to buy passes and plan their trips. The convenient metro rail connects Austin and is a great way to see the sights. Local taxis are available along with ride share options. On-the-go bike rentals from Austin MetroBike are available to use at more than 40 stations located throughout the city and a fun way to experience Austin is via pedicab.
