When to visit
The weather in Xiamen is lovely all year round, but to enjoy the most comfortable temperatures at quieter times, visit between April and May (spring) or October and November (autumn). Autumn days are dry and sunny ranging from 14°C to 26°C. Summer is a popular time to visit to enjoy the beaches, lush gardens and seaside promenade. Temperatures range from 24°C to 33°C with plenty of sunshine.

Getting into Xiamen from Xiamen Airport
With a range of transport options to choose from, getting into Xiamen from Xiamen Airport is easy. Bus, taxi, airport coaches and car rental are all available at the airport. By taxi you can reach to Xiamen within just 20 minutes, with taxi ranks available at both terminals. It's best to have your destination written down in Chinese to show it to the driver. Otherwise, you may wish to book a taxi through the DiDi app from the airport, (China's version of Uber) for a comfortable way to get to your destination. Another popular way to travel to Xiamen and further destinations, is to take one of the many buses or the airport express bus to downtown Xiamen. You can rent a car, though you need a Chinese driver’s license, so you would be best to organise a hotel transfer, minibus or a car with a driver.
Getting around Xiamen
With a range of transport options to get around Xiamen, getting to where you want to go in the city is easy. Choose from public transport, taxi, bicycle, ferry or join a tour. There are many local buses, however signs are only in Chinese. The BRT is the rapid bus system, that is a fast and comfortable service. Taxis are cheap and can take you to wherever you need to go on Xiamen Island and be sure have the metre turned on. Otherwise, you can book a taxi through the DiDi app, (China's version of Uber). Xiamen's Metro has one line that runs from Xiamen North Railway Station to Zhenhai Road and connects the suburbs with Xiamen downtown. Xiamen is a peaceful coastal city, popular for its islands. There are regular ferries to Gulangyu Island and Kinmen Island, for a scenic way to get around. Alternatively, you may wish to join an organised tour or hire a bicycle to get around the island.
