Best time to visit Indianapolis

The best time to visit Indianapolis is at the end of spring or the beginning of fall. This is when the weather is at its most pleasant, and you can be free to enjoy everything from the city's museums and budding restaurant scene to its parks and outdoor concert venues. During fall September to October, you can join in Halloween events and start of NFL and NBA season. Temperatures range from 13°C to 25°C during these months. Spring you can check out the Indianapolis 500 race. Winters are short, very cold and windy with temperatures dropping to -6°C.

Getting into Indianapolis from Indianapolis International Airport

Whether you're staying in Indianapolis during your trip or connecting to another city, there are various transportation options to help you efficiently and affordably arrive at your destination. A scheduled bus service from the airport to the greater Indianapolis area is available through IndyGo along with shuttle services. There are car rental options at the Ground Transportation Centre, located on the first floor of the Terminal Garage. A taxi service is available at the curb on the lower level of the terminal just outside of Baggage Claim. Uber and Lyft services are available from the airport to your selected destination. Shared ride and personal luxury limousine services are available in the Ground Transportation Centre, located on the first floor of the garage as you exit the terminal. Hotel courtesy cars can be organised from IND airport.

Getting around Indianapolis

To efficiently get around Indy, there are multiple options to move about the city. If you hire a car there are plenty of parking stations downtown. Public transport options include the IndyGo bus service and the red line electric bus stretching through town. Taxi services, ride-share company Uber and Lyft also operate through the city. Enjoy private transport in a limousine or premium car service. Bike share stations, bike rentals, organised tours are a fun way to explore the city and walking is easy too.

Passengers on Qantas flights from Sydney are allocated checked baggage. If you require extra luggage, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online before departure. 

Checking in

Passengers travelling from Sydney can check in online up to 24 hours in advance or check in at the terminal by visiting a kiosk or desk.

Can I cancel my flight booking due to COVID-19?

If your flights were booked through a travel agency or third-party website, please contact them directly to discuss your options.

If we’ve cancelled your Qantas flight, including your Classic Flight Reward booking, wait to hear from us before changing your booking. We’ll be contacting anyone whose flight has been impacted as soon as possible.

 This offer applies to Qantas operated flights for the following dates: Australian Domestic: booked between 21 May 2020 and 28 February 2022, for travel between 12 June 2020 and 28 February 2022. Trans-Tasman: booked between 15 October 2020 and 28 February 2022, for travel between 16 October 2020 and 28 February 2022. International: booked between 25 February 2021 and 28 February 2022, for travel between 1 November 2021 and 31 December 2022. If you decide to change the date of your travel, we'll waive the change fee. You'll need to change your flight before your scheduled date of departure and select a new travel date within 12 months of your original booking date. When you're ready to rebook, you'll also need to cover any fare increase for your new flight, if applicable. For all changes, your applicable Fare Rules and the Qantas Conditions of Carriage apply.
