When to visit

Best time to visit Glasgow

The best time to visit Glasgow is in the warmer spring and summer months between March and August, when high temperatures often sit pleasantly around 20°C and daylight is longer for outdoor activities. Winters in Glasgow are cold and temperature highs drop to around 6 - 9°C on average, with sub-zero nights to be expected and snowfall also common. Even if you do visit in winter you’ll find plenty to do, with several world-class cultural events held year-round including the West End Festival and the World Bagpipe Championships in summer and the Glasgow Comedy Festival in March. Regardless of the season you visit, it’s best to be prepared with a raincoat and umbrella, as rain in this part of Scotland is frequent year-round.
