The best time of the year to go to Hervey Bay is for whale watching season, beginning in August through to October. Fraser Island essentially only has two seasons: summer and winter. Winter on the island is during the months of June through August with temperatures ranging between 13°C and 26°C. Summer on Hervey Bay is between December through February. The temperatures during this season range from approximately 22°C to 30°C. As its close to the Tropics of Capricorn it brings humidity that makes it feel hot.
