Best time to visit Ayres Rock (Uluru)

Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park has a desert climate, with clear skies, low average rainfall, high temperatures in summer and cold evenings in winter, dropping to -7°C. Any time is a great time of the year to visit Uluru. Plan ahead in summer, when high temperatures can mean that walks close early in the day. The average peak for January is 38°C and the record high is 45.4°C. Both Uluru and Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) are stunning to visit at sunrise and sunset.

What is the main airport called?

There are three terminals in Sydney Airport: Terminal 1 (T1) is the Sydney international terminal (Qantas flights QF1 – QF399, oneworld flights and Jetstar International flights), Terminal 2 (T2) is a domestic terminal where you will find Jetstar domestic flights and Terminal 3 (T3) is where you will find Qantas and QantasLink domestic services (QF400 and above).

Complimentary shuttle buses meet most flights and transfer you to your accommodation. There is no taxi service available in the area. Set in the Northern Territory, Ayers Rock Airport is one of the nation’s busiest regional airports, and the main travel hub for visitors wanting to explore Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. There is one main terminal, which services commercial airlines, as well as private charter aircraft.

When your flight from Sydney to Ayres Rock touches down, you’ll be greeted by the friendly staff at Ayres Rock Airport. From there, it’s easy to get to your accomodation.

Arriving at Ayers Rock/Connellan Airport

Once you collect your bags from the baggage collection area, there are a few different transport options available to get you on your way. The airport is located a short 10 minute drive, about 8km from the resorts.

Getting into Ayres Rock from the airport

Hire a car from the car rental services available at the airport and explore the region at your leisure. There is fairly high demand for cars, so it’s best to book well in advance. Taxis aren’t available at the Ayers Rock Airport, however shuttle buses are provided by many of the hotels at the resort.
