Getting into Samoa from Samoa Airport

With a range of transport options available at Samoa Airport, it's easy to get into Apia and begin your holiday. Taxis are a convenient option and meet flights for the 40km trip to town. It's best to agree on a fare with the driver before starting your trip. Shuttle bus services from the airport are provided to the major tourist centres, resorts and hotels. They can be booked before arrival or arranged upon arrival after customs clearance. For an inexpensive way to travel, standard public buses run regularly to Apia from the main road outside the airport, a short walk from the terminal. Alternatively, you may wish to rent a car from outside the arrivals terminal to explore the island at your own pace.  

Getting around Samoa

Getting around Samoa is easy with a range of public transport options, whether it’s cruising by ferry, hopping on one of the island’s famous local buses, taxi, road tripping in the comfort of your own hire car or renting a bike or scooter. To head offshore and discover the other islands, ferries are an exciting way to explore. Just head to the terminal located at the wharf. Riding a local bus is an inexpensive transport option, memorable and fun cultural experience. To catch a bus, just wave it down - there are no bus stops. And when you want to get off, pull the cord along the roof of the bus. All buses are named with their destination and buses run on island time making it a flexible way to get around. Taxis are an easy way to get around, they are not metered, so you agree on a fare with the driver before departing. If you are staying for a while and you find a driver you like, it can be worth getting their number to use their service during your stay. Hiring a car is a convenient way to get around Samoa and you drive on the left-hand side of the road. Travelling by bike is another great way to experience Samoa. The roads are easy to navigate and there are even bike tours to join. Bike rentals area available from some resorts and through various companies on the island. Scooters are another great option to take in Samoa's natural beauty. Be sure to wear a helmet.
