Guangzhou, also known as Canton is the capital and the largest city of Guangdong province in southern China. Located on the Pearl River, it is one of China's busiest trading centres and has a long history for being a major maritime point of the silk road. Wander through the narrow leafy streets to discover temples, heritage buildings and traditional dim sum eateries. The city is also a business destination due to the Canton Trade Fair, which is celebrated every spring and autumn. Be sure to visit the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, the Museum of the Nanyue King Mausoleum, the stunning Shamian Island and the gardens of Yuyin Mountain Villa. Modern aspects of the city can be seen in the Canton Tower, the world’s biggest football stadium and Tianhe computer markets. There is plenty to explore in this peaceful city.
