When to visit
Chennai has a tropical wet and dry climate with an average temperature of 26°C. The best time to visit is during winter (December to February) with lower temperatures and less rain. Summers (March–June) are hot and humid, with average highs in the mid-to-high 30s. Maximum temperatures often exceed 40°C between April and June. Heavy rain from the south-west summer monsoon falls between June and October, which makes it tricky to see the sights.

It is located in Tirusulam, 21 km from the city centre. Chennai Airport has two passenger terminals, serving domestic and international flights.

Getting into Chennai from Chennai Airport
There are a number of taxi, buses, ride share, trains and car rental options available at the airport to get you to Chennai city centre. Booking a pre-paid taxi is a seamless way to get into the city from the arrivals hall, or you can book a ride-share option through Ola and Uber. It takes approximately 50 minutes by car to get into the city. The MTC buses are an easy way to commute from the airport, connecting well with areas in Chennai. The Chennai metro connects the city with the domestic and international terminals, giving hassle-free travel for passengers. For convenience, there are free inter terminal shuttle services between the domestic and international terminals. Renting a car in Chennai Airport is a good idea to move around, with cars available from the domestic terminal.
Getting around Chennai
Chennai is well connected and it's easy to get around the city. Railways, metro, buses, taxis and auto rickshaws are convent ways to see the landmarks. The southern railway has four main terminals providing transport around the city. Chennai metro connects to all the main attractions, or book a ride share option through Uber or Ola to get around. You may wish to rent a car, join one of the many tours or organise a private transfer.
