Visiting from Perth to Aberdeen

Aberdeen travel information

Aberdeen is the third largest city in Scotland, situated in the Grampian region and surrounded by beautiful countryside and a stunningly dramatic coastline. Famous for its oil industry, Aberdeen is often referred to as the Granite City due to much of the architecture being built with granite from the local quarry. Explore the Dunnottar Castle and the city’s eclectic arts scene or sample craft beer and Scottish whiskey in one of the vibrant pubs. Enjoy the outdoors with hiking, surfing or kayaking, or with a visit to outdoor attractions like the nearby Cairngorms National Park, Foot-dee Fishing Village, the Royal Deeside region or one of the many sandy beaches.

When to visit

Best time to visit Aberdeen

The best time to visit Aberdeen is typically in the warmer months (between May and September) when visitors are better able to enjoy outdoor sights and the countryside. During the summer the temperatures reach up to 19℃ (65℉) highs, with July bringing the longest days, and the most rainfall of the year occurring in August. April boasts the lowest rainfall, and during winter the temperatures at night drop to as low as 1℃ (34℉) and sports such as hillwalking, skiing and ice climbing accessible within a short trip of the city.
