The beautiful coast of Vancouver Island and British Columbia is well known for its temperate climate. The best time to visit Victoria is during summer as they are dry and warm with an average temperature of 26 °C. Spring is a lovely time to visit as the flowers begin to bloom with cool nights. Winter is cold from October to April, dropping to -10°C with an average of 5 °C bringing some snow, providing a great opportunity for winter skiing and hot springs.

Victoria Airport offers a variety of transport options to make getting into the city easy. Car rental companies are available, and counters are located in the arrivals area directly across from the information desk. Taxi and YYJ airport shuttle are convenient ways to travel. Public transport options include BC transit with buses to downtown Victoria and ride share options.

Getting around Victoria

Travelling around Victoria and Vancouver Island is easy with a variety of transport options. Public transport options are efficient and affordable including the BC bus and BC ferries to see many of the local attractions. You can take a water taxi, charter a boat to cruise the spectacular waters. Taxi, shuttles and limousines area a fast way to get around town. Explore Vancouver Island at your own pace by renting a car or motor home. Tour the city streets and scenic country trails on a bicycle or hire a fun-to-ride scooter. Qantas operates from two terminals in Melbourne T1 - domestic and T2 - international.

Baggage allowance

Customers on Qantas flights from Melbourne are a allocated checked baggage allowance. If you require extra luggage, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online prior to departure.

Checking in

Customers travelling from Melbourne can check-in online up to 24 hours in advance, using the Qantas app or visiting a kiosk at the airport.

If we’ve cancelled your Qantas flight, including your Classic Flight Reward booking, wait to hear from us before changing your booking. We’ll be contacting anyone whose flight has been impacted as soon as possible.

 This offer applies to Qantas operated flights for the following dates: Australian Domestic: booked between 21 May 2020 and 28 February 2022, for travel between 12 June 2020 and 28 February 2022. Trans-Tasman: booked between 15 October 2020 and 28 February 2022, for travel between 16 October 2020 and 28 February 2022. International: booked between 25 February 2021 and 28 February 2022, for travel between 1 November 2021 and 31 December 2022. If you decide to change the date of your travel, we'll waive the change fee. You'll need to change your flight before your scheduled date of departure and select a new travel date within 12 months of your original booking date. When you're ready to rebook, you'll also need to cover any fare increase for your new flight, if applicable. For all changes, your applicable Fare Rules and the Qantas Conditions of Carriage apply.
